Synopsis

A Bigot. A Brother. A Bet you won’t believe.

Alan Fleck, a compulsive gambler with a penchant for sports betting, hits rock bottom after an unbelievable run of bad luck. As a result, he owes fifty thousand dollars to Thadeus Wrazinski, Chicago’s most notorious bookie. In order to clear the debt and save his life, Alan proposes an outlandish double or nothing bet. The story follows Alan and his feeble attempts to beg, borrow and steal enough cash to weasel out of the bet.

Along the way, he consults with his brother, friends on the police force, and a colorful cast of supporting characters for advice and guidance. His travels take him from Chicago's underground restaurants, sports bars, nightclubs and off-track betting parlors, all the way to Los Angeles and back again.

This dark and daring satire pulls no punches on race, addiction and homophobia.

If he wins, he loses.
If he loses, he dies!
